    Hi guys, my new wokstation for MIR is on the way. Can anyone suggest a stable OS version for MIR? Since MIR needs a huge amount of ram, I am thinking of using Vista 64 business. The Ultimate version has other media feature that I won't need perhaps. SP1 or maybe 2? Or maybe windows 7 is already better?

    One more thing if I may; Since MIR is a standalone, should I set the processor scheduling onto background services?

    I'm not the local IT-guru, but our we have made good experiences with Windows 7. It's also very likely the most future-proof choice.

    Can I ask which version of Windows 7 you use Dietz?

    I use Vista 64 :-) ... Chris (CM) and Bernd (Air) have done some thorough testing, though, and the results are pointing towards W7. CM will chime in as soon as he'll wind the time.

    in any case 64bit - the RC was only available as ultimate, since friday the professional is also available.

    basically it doesn't matter which version as long as it is 64bit, i personally don't like the home versions since they always give you administrative hassle (eg. no remote desktop)
