  • Question about Fr. Horns, incl. ranges

Hi - the only VSL product I own are Epic Horns, but have a cup of questions.

Firstly, the Epic Horns lib is not the same as the regular Fr. Horns found in the VSL lib, is it?

Secondly, a friend of a friend who owns the VSL lib claims the Fr. Horn section only goes as low as G#1. Is that correct? The P. Sam Fr. Horns go down to D1 - a full 6 half steps lower - but the clincher is that the Epic Horns go down to D1 as well. Why is that - that the Fr. Horns from the lib. don't have the full range?

    Just curious here...

    Thanks in advance.

Well for a start it would be G#2, as VSL uses the International standard of C4 for Middle C. I can't answer the question though, except to say that if the regular horns "only" go down to G#, it's probably because that's what they recorded.

However, if you tell me what patch you are talking about, I'll check.
