    Hi, i run my vienna samples on a seperate external drive. I have configured the directory manager to find the samples there. However when I open Logic 8, select the VSL program, the names of intruments load however none of the samples are there? 

    All licenses are up to date, very strange. I am running vienna on my Power mac in my studio and have no problems. I am using a new intel core duo mac pro laptop.

    if anyone culd shed some light on this, it may be a common problem?

     welcome maxherman,

    external drive - firewire? please make sure that you don't allow the drive to sleep (energy options, turn off, never).

    also did you already try to simply reboot (some process might have been running during you assigned the locations in directory manager)

    repair permissions on system volume (disk utility) is also always a good idea.

    Thankyou for your quick response, however no avail to the options you offered. I have repaired the Disk, there seems to be no problems. The hardrive is not asleep and I have tried to reboot. It was working about 10days ago, and recently it just stopped. I have kept the samples in the same place and have moved no files around.

    Its a firewire drive.

     suggestion: remove the references from the directory manager (CMD - A, DEL) and add them again (preferrably using drag & drop from a finder window) ... has by chance the volume been renamed lately?

    do this only without a running audio app and vsldaemon (if not sure, reboot before please)

    Hi Christian still no avail. The drive was renamed. VSL library loads the names but no preferences of performances. Therefore I cant load any samples! Its very strange.

    ahem ... have you done as i suggested (reboot, reassign locations)?

    yes. I have rebooted and reassigned locations and still no avail even in standalone mode

    please double check everything from above and in case the issue persists write to support@vsl.co.at, maybe providing a few screenshots (directory manager, VI not loading samples)

    Hi Christian, I grabbed the setup from my other computer, works now. Something must have happened within the program. very strange.
