  • Playback problem from newbie.

I have noticed that notes in Sibelius which do not have articulation, such as staccato or slurs, playback with a soft start and swell slightly: eg. violins playing forte: 3 quavers slurred followed by a minim. The quavers sound great but the minim suddenly starts quieter before increasing dynamic. Is there something I need to adjust? Many thanks Phil Walton

  • Hello Phil!

It is true that lots of the sustained notes (especially with string ensembles) swell slightly and do not start with an immediate attack. This is quite natural. If it doesn't fit at a particular passage, you could try another articulation. To see how to trigger the various articulations with Sibelius I recommend reading our "optimizing Sibelius playback" manual you find at the following location:

    Best wishes,
    Andi
