  • Really silly newbie question sorry! (hopefully quick to help with though!)

I have loaded x4 matrices of different instruments but I can only get Sibelius to play only one matrix (i.e. the one I have clicked on)

My question is: How can I get Sibelius to play the different instruments? If I have clicked on say, a flute, if I insert a note into an Oboe stave, Sibelius still sounds the flute sound form the flute matrix.

All articulations are triggered correctly, it's just this problem! Shucks! I've looked everywhere for info but I guess this is such a silly mistake no-one has ever made the mistake before!

If somone could help that would be fab...  [:D]

  • Hello Macs!

I guess you have loaded all matrices into the same instrument. Please insert a new instrument in Vienna Ensemble for every instrument you have in Sibelius. After that, don't forget to set the same channels in VE as on the Manual Sound Set page in Sibelius.

    Best,
    Andi

  • Hello Andi (and everyone!),

Thanks for your reply! However, I'm still stuck...

How do I set the channels in VE??

Currently my instruments in my wind quartet are set to channels 6, 7, 8 and 9 in Sibelius.

I have a wind quartet set up in Sibelius with flute, oboe, clarinet Bb and bassoon - and have loaded the matrix for these instruments in the first four slots in the VI interface 'matrix assign' area.

However, when I input any notes in Sibelius, it still only sounds which instrument or slot I happen to have clicked on last in the interface.

    Hmmmm! Quite fustrating! [:S]

I'll get there in the end I guess! Any help GREATLY appreciated though!   Doh! I can't believe I'm stuck this quickly - at the first wee hurdle!

    Warm regards,

    Macs

  • EUREEKA! :)

I hadn't put the Vienna Ensemble .dll files into my Sibelius vst folder - so I was just using the standalone VI vst instead of the Vienna Ensemble vst!

    All fixed!

Silly mistake really. Any newbies who get stuck with this just pm me and I'll be able to help!

Thanks again andi for your help!
