• Computer For MIR

    Hi

Sorry if this has been answered before, but I am having real problems trying to find a computer or components to build a new slave machine in readiness for MIR.

Could you guys a VSL give me a list of specs that I need. Which chipset is better i7 or XEON? I was looking at the i7 chipset, are any of these motherboards ok?

Also I cannot find 6 DIMM DDR3 that create more than 12GB RAM? Can you give me any help?

Finally, if you purchased a stock machine that you use, can you give me a link to that?

I would really appreciate any help you can give me.

    Thanks!!!

  •  both mobos are fine ... we all have the problem that components are not available, i thought is is mainly a problem on continental europe ... we bought the *ordinary* S-1366 ASUS P6T Deluxe

  • Hi

Thanks for the reply. Is 3x2GB the only RAM available? As there are only 6 DIMM slots available on all the motherboard, so that makes it a maximum of 12GB? Are there no 4GB DIMM DDR3 available for i7?

Sorry about all the questions, just trying to get a machine ready, especially to cope for the premium edition when it also becomes available.

  •  These guys seem to have no problem getting the memory, so if you're not thinking of self-build, maybe give them a call.

  •  thx for the link - but besides it is not always easy to get such stuff shipped to continental europe: can they deliver or can they just take your order (i'll ask)? i know about a US based DAW builder who is waiting for it since weeks now ....

dell and HP also offer pre-configured machines with W5580, but DDR3 4GB 1333 is missing everywhere - with or without ECC

  • Hi

If I purchase the motherboard you suggest, are either of the 3x4GB packges compatible to run on that motherboard?

  •  as posted earlier: please strictly stick to the memory compatibility list of the respective mainboard -  the memory controller is very sensitive regarding voltage, timing and memory module layout  when it comes to larger capacities (> 12GB)

  • Some memory info:

Kingston produces a triple channel set of 3x4Gb DDR3 ECC 1333mhz ram: KVR1333D3D4R9SK3/12G.

Retail price is about 350 €

    .....Also they now even make a 1333 ECC of 3x8Gb - KVR1333D3D4R9SK3/24G (according to Kinston.Com )
