  • Expression Maps and VSL Dynamics.

Hello everyone. I was wondering how VSL dynamics (light, medium, strong cresendos/diminuendos) can be implemented into the Expression maps. I don't see any problems for the deattached notes. Therefore if I am playing legato, and at the same time I want to have a cresendo, how shall I use the sampled dynamics? How can I let Cubase expression maps know that I want to use a 6sec pfp, or a 3sec medium diminuendo(which requires A/B switching) for instance?

Also, any idea when the strings, and download instruments like the concert guitar, overdrive, upright bass expression maps will be available?

    Many thanks, Damian

  • Hello Damian!

Of our sampled dynamics only fp and sfz are included in the presets for VST Expression. If you also want to use other dynamics you can do the following thing.
Create an additional matrix, where you include the patches you need and make keyswitch (and maybe MIDI CC) assignments (matrix switch, H-Span and/or V-Span).
Then in Cubase create your additional entries in the expression map (I recommend using the Art.1 group) and also set your keyswitches (and MIDI CC and A/B switches) there. Be aware that Cubase uses a different naming for pitch. Cubase C3 = VSL C4.

We are working on expression maps for the strings. They may be available in June.

    Best,
    Andi
