  • Networked Audio problems...please help!

Can anyone tell me why my audio networked from my farms seems to get "bottle necked" and cuts in and out when coming into my host computer?

    Set-up:

•Mac G5 with Digital Performer 6 as my host

    •6 Mac Minis

    •VE3 network (Lynksys SD2008 8 Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Router)

Let me know if you need any further info and I'll provide that

    Thanks,

  •  a few thoughts - ahead: aren't the minis 100 Mbit only?

    - make sure you don't have unnecessary network services and traffic (especially multicasts)

    - disable all not needed network protocols (eg. afp), i'd recommend fixed IP adresses

    - have all computers in the same workgroup and network settings are appropriate

    - AFAIK the Lynksys SD2008 is a switch, not a router, maybe internet connection sharing is enabled on your G5?

    - double chek to have only 1 gateway (router) entry on the G5 and network ranges for external and internal are seperate.

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Great! Thanks so much Christian...I will try all of these suggestions!

  • Christian,

Wow, you are right...the Mini is only 100Mbit! I had NO idea! So, I assume that this is going to make quite a bit of difference handling audio "thru the pipe" so to speak?

    Thanks,
