    Hi,

    with the great news of third-party plugins I made an investment in ths horse, too. What has been great news, when trying out, was that it has become possible to connect VE instances on your master (mac) and the use of sounflower (wich has never worked reliably for me) has become pointless.

    However, some questions remain:

    1) Is it not possible, to open a VE3 with midi over network and - at the same time - use your soundcards hardware connection(adat outputs) to the master? This might become useful for samples, that need extra low latency, like percussion or piano.

    2) I could not find out how to use more than one midi port with 16 channels per VE instance. I connect from my master (mac) and the instance on the slave (PC) opens. In the port menu of the instruments i find only one network port with 16 channels available. Even when I insert more than 16 instruments this does not change. In the manual 8 ports with 16 channels are mentioned. How can you access those?

    1.  If you want to use MIDI over network, but not audio, you need to use the standalone and connect via MOL, or a similar alternative.
    2. You can't use more than 16 MIDI channels from plugin instance. It's part of the MIDI specification. Just add another instance for more MIDI channels.

     I have to say I'm with Fritz - would be wonderful to have a half-VE3 setup - so the instruments and settings are saved within the project, yet those of us with big audio rigs (MADI here) could still use hardware I/O with all its advantages of exceptionally low latency and so on. VE2 is fantastic and rock solid, but for more complex arrangements it's a pain to have to save not only the Nuendo project file, but also the three VE2 templates per cue...
