  • Channel pressure

Does the channel pressure have any effect on the VL samples? I have fooled around with this and can't seem to understand what it is doing if anything. What is channel pressure anyway? It is not well documented in the manuals or internet.

    Regards, Stephen W. Beatty

  • Hi Stephen

Channel pressure is Aftertouch which isn't available as a controller in VSL, but I believe I read some time back that they were going to introduce it in the future. However you may be able to use a transformer in your sequencer to make use of it, if it is implemented on your keyboard.

  • Thanks Colin for the information. Steve

  • Here's a workaround (if you use Logic):
Use a Transformer to convert incoming C-press (= aftertouch) to a CC number of your choice (eg 3). Set the Slot crossfader to Source:ControlChange and Controller:3

Cable the transformer to your Audio Inst and aftertouch works!

  • Hello Different Colin!

I don't have aftertouch on my own keyboard but just out of interest, if you do use it yourself, which function do you find it best suited for?

    Vel xfade?

  • Hello namesake  [:D]

I haven't actually used aftertouch (AT) much - just tested it long ago to see if I could get vibrato as that is the "common" parameter controlled by AT. I've also tried using a breath controller for Vel xfade and that also works well. I'm sure AT would be equally efficient for Vel xfade.

It's really up to you and what feels natural and intuitive.

  • Hi Colin

I have an old 61key synth action Korg which actually does have AT, so I may hook it up and try your workaround. Just don't like the feel of those keys after getting used to fully-weighted. Cheers..

    As above..
