  • Jazz Drums Question

Hi.  I've been very excited to purchase the Jazz Drums ever since I first heard a few months ago that VSL was planning on releasing them.  What I did not know is what I just read last night on the website  - namely, that the Jazz Drums were only being offered for a limited time until January 15th[:'(]

What made this even more painful for me is that I read this piece of news right after I had watched the amazingly impressive Video Tutorial  on the Jazz Drums ("Overview #1")!  So the video got me all the more psyched up, and I was then on my way to purchase and download the instrument - and this was when I came across the news that so disappointed me.

Is there any possibility whatsoever that this instrument can be made into an individual, downloadable instrument that one can purchase on the site - just like the many other terrific downloadable, single instruments that VSL sells online (ie/upright bass or concert guitar)?

I've been composing and learning tremendous amounts with the VSL Cube, but my main line of work is as a Jazz Pianist & composer (as you can see on my website in my profile); it would be so wonderful for me to be able to buy the Upright Bass and Jazz Drums so that I can have a 100% realistic-sounding rhythm section at my disposal whenever I wish to try out new Jazz compositions (when the real guys aren't available[:D]); or even just to have some great fun improvising my own trio music into Logic.  Great way to brush up on my chops, too!

I'd really appreciate anything you can do on this matter.  I just can't believe that such an amazing product as your Jazz Drums isn't being sold as a full VI.  From watching the Tutorial Video, I can see that it certainly lives up to the VSL standards of excellence & quality that characterize all your products.

Thank You (keeping my fingers crossed),

    Peter Delano

  • Hi Peter!

There is a grace period until January 23rd for getting the Jazz Drums when you buy the Vienna Suite.

If you are quick you can still get them.

At the moment there are no plans for releasing the Jazz Drums as a Vienna Instruments download product.

    Best wishes,
    Andi

  • I highly recommend you take advantage of this grace period ASAP.

The Vienna Suite is now my go-to source for both tgransparent and "vintage" effects plug-ins, at the mixing stage (and maybe even the mastering stage, but I haven't tried that yet).

The Jazz Drums are wonderful for the brush work. I'm still using BFD's Jazz and Funk expansion pack for cymbals though, as it contains well over a hundred variations of cymbal types and striking implements/.techniques.

Either product is worth the price on its own. The combination, which ends for sure on 23 January (probably GMT or thereabouts), is a bargain.
