finale - how to explain VSL/vienna Suite to switch between different articulation (matrices)

 what do I have to do that finale using different articulations leeds to different VSL patches?

I just mastered to implant VSL  on different Midi channels to use different Instruments.

Of course my next question, after downloafing the mus-file from vienna for finale is how I can bring Finale to use the human playback techniques plug-ins.

When I write e.g. a line for only one Instruments, like the orchestral violins, Vienna uses its first matrice (mostly staccato). fine.

Than I ad by smart shapes a legato, VSL plays still staccato, same by using the articulations (points for staccato, detache articulations ect.)

Also using by the mf-tool advisings like pizz. or arco (if I put pizz. in the first matrice) leed to the first matrice.

So  (Midi and Garittan are reacting there)  how finale cooparates with the plugins of VSL, because I use finale to play instead of me. (for circumstances I won't explain here, I need to substitude all keyboardfunctions by using a Finale-vienna score)

At the moment I bought the special edition, and want to ad the rest one after the other (not only because of the money but also for the learning process) so that buying symphonic cube at once for getting a stand alone programm is not an option.

Did you import the Human Playback preferences to your score? To see how to do that please take a look at the readme file that came with the .mus file.
Also be sure that the VSL Special Edition Human Playback Preferences are activated and no other.

 I found the answer by watching the sibelius tutorial and searching the equivalent on finale.

So it's working:

Go to "send midi value"

click on  "patch"

chose "bank select 32 program change"

send and done

now it works

My solution does not apply by appasionata Strings -why?

The Appassionata Strings content of the Special Edition should be seen as a teaser for the big Appassionata Strings release. It offers only staccato and sustain articulations. If you want to use these articulations with Finale, please load the Orchestral Strings matrices of the instruments you want to use and substitute the staccato and sustain patches with the ones from the Appassionata Strings folder (with Patch Assign). Maybe you also want to substitute the detache and legato patches with the appassionata sustain patches to get the fuller string sound also with these articulations.

Hello, I am using Finale 2009 and have the same problem but could not fix it. I tried piano and violin solo. The only feature transmitted is the piano pedal. For violin, neither pizz nor staccato are making patch changes. I have done all steps of the readme file: This is an empty Finale file with Human Playback Settings for the Vienna Special Edition. It does not work with other collections. These settings will take care of Keyswitches automatically, when you change articulations. 1. Open or start a new Finale document. You don't have to open F2009+VSL-SE_HumanPlayback.MUS, because you can import the settings to your own documents. 2. PC: To activate Vienna Ensemble in Finale go to MIDI/Audio/Device Setup/Manage VST Plug-ins and add the Plug-in directory, where your Vienna Ensemble.dll is located. Then in MIDI/Audio/Instrument Setup/VST Instruments choose Vienna Enemble. The Vienna Ensemble window, where you can load your instruments, will open automatically. Also make sure that in the MIDI/Audio menu "Play Finale through VST" is activated. Mac: In MIDI/Audio/Instrument Setup/Audio Units Instruments choose Vienna Enemble. The Vienna Ensemble window, where you can load your instruments, will open automatically. Also make sure that in the MIDI/Audio menu "Play Finale through Audio Units" is activated. 3. To import the settings in your Finale score, go to MIDI/Audio/Human Playback/Human Playback Preferences and click Import. Then choose the F2009+VSL-SE_HumanPlayback.MUS file. 4. Open the Vienna Ensemble window, make the same channel settings as in Finale and load the matrices of the instruments from your score.

Hello Richaud and welcome to the forum!

Can I assume, that you successfully loaded Vienna Ensemble with Finale and the two instruments are playing on two different channels and therefore are triggering the right instruments?

Please take another look at your Human Playback Preferences. Maybe you have the wrong set of HPP active.

Hi Andi, thanks for your quick answer ! One step was missing, and is missing in the readme file: => After clicking on "import", one must do the following: In the "Preference Sets Management" subwindow, select "Vienna Instruments" instead of "Default Prefs (attached)". Maybe you could specify in the readme file in the net release ? Now it's seems to work ! Have a wonderful new year's eve, Cheers Fabrice
