Hi,
I've been experiencing regular system crash while using Protools LE 7.4 with VSL Special Edition on Windows XP. First, here are my specs:
PC DELL Dimension 5100
Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 Ghz
2.50 GB DDR RAM
Windows XP
I'm working with:
Protools 7.4 with M-Box 2 mini
Vienna Intruments
I already worked on pieces for small ensembles and never had any problems. I recently started a projet for a larger ensemble (e.i. around 20 instruments). I generally manage to work a couple of minutes and do a couple of playbacks before it crashes (always during playback). I use instrument tracks with Vienna Intruments as plug-ins on each tracks.
Is it a memory issue? I looked at the Task Manager just before my computer crashed and it didn't seem to be overloading the system. The CPU was at 14%. I'm not sure where to look to see if their was issuficient RAM, but I've noted down what I was seeing on the Task Manager screen, so I can provide you with the numbers if needed. I'm just not sure what they mean.
(I'm working on a French edition of windows, so I'm gonna try to translate myself the different tags)
Physical Memory:
Total 2 619 468 ko
Available 645 472 ko
Core memory:
Total 126 192 ko
Paged 98 128 ko
Unpaged 28 064 ko
Dedicated hosting:
Total 1 770 048 ko
Limit 4 658 160 ko
Peak 2 115 248 ko
Do you think it is indeed a problem due to insufficient memory or could if be something else?
Thanks a lot,
Vincent
