Thanks for your interest!
I can't recreate the automation problem here - please give us some details about your system (basic hardware info, OS, detailed version-numbers of both the host and Vienna Suite).

The idea behind the resonance menues is simple: I watched myself mixing music realized on behalf of our samples; I discussed with other people who are doing the same; I tried to find typical patterns for each instrument where we tried to integrate its sound better into a dense mix by getting rid of some strong, resonating (or otherwise too obvious) sonic aspects.
The result from this research are the so called "Resonance Menus". They are nothing else than my personal selection of those frequencies of an instrument which _could_ be too strong for a bigger arrangement. They are neither supposed to be used all together, nor are the amounts of gain reduction and Q necessarily what _your_ mix needs. Ideally, what you get from these Presets is some kind of hint where you _could_ start with some EQing (... which will of course vary from case to case, obviously).
The way I would use the "Menus" is to instatiate a VS EQ when you have the feeling that a certain instrument could benefit from some treatment, then enabling/disabling one EQ-band after the other, while listening carefully if you get closer to the desired effect (or not). After that, treat the settings according to your taste. :-)
