    Is there a patch for violins (solo or ensemble) that comes somewhere close to the shrieking Wagner strings in 'The Ride of the Valkyrie'. It sounds to me as if they are 'up' bow and close to the bridge. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Oh yes. And we had something similar in the shower scene in Hitchcock's 'Psycho'. It sounds as if someone is strangling the violin. With great force.
