  •  Hello Michel,

please tell me which OS you are on, and I will provide you with the latest versions of our software.

I don´t know the technical background for the decision against download managers at the moment - what I wanted to tell you is that there is a valid workaround, and that we will be glad to help you out.

    Best,

    Paul

  • Hi Paul

I do my download via my PC.

So, what is the workaround exactly. You prodive me with your own download manager or just a "global" ftp link (and will I have to ask each time ?).

    Thanks for the help

    Michel

  •  Hello Michel,

so are you working on a PC as well? I´m just asking to see which formats I should provide you with.

You have "Personal Files" in your User Area, I will upload the software there.

And yes, simply ask if you need anything.

Out of curiosity: the software updates are not really big.... what speaks against the conventional way to download them?

    Best,

    Paul

Hi Paul I do music with Logic Pro on a mac-pro but sometimes  also on vista as I dualboot on my mac intel. So, idealy, I need to download VI and VE2 update for both mac and pc. Would it be possible at each update to put them in my "Personal files" so I don't have to ask each time ?

    @Another User said:

Yesteday nigth I did tried to download last VI mac update (60 mb). After 5 hours of download, while it was at 95% done, the connection with the server was lost and I could not complete the download. Really fun......

As you see, I am not with an high speed connection but with a 56k modem (true speed of 42kb). People that are used to high speed seems to forget that not everybody has it.

So, 5 hours of download for one udpate, at least when it works 100% of the time is acceptable but when you have to start it over again because the connection with the server was lost (and it happens with vsl server one time on two), this is just useless and quite frustrating.

BTW, even with the "conventionnal" way of download, still,  "resume download" seeems to be a norm on the Web.

  • Hi paul

Thanks for your help. This was appreaciated and it works very well.

Now, I am just puzzle. If it so easy to get "resume" on my personal files why it seems to  be such a big deal to getting it in the main area for at least software update ?

    Just really curious...

    Michel

  •  Well, Michel,

if you download from ftp it works much faster, it´s simply a different system.

    Glad it works for you,

    Paul
