  • Quick answer please ... Is Performance Set an obligation ?

    Hello,

I have a little question before I buy the Orchestral Cube :

Have I to buy the Performance Set too ? I mean : can I do something good without it ?

I will buy the OC tomorrow (thuesday) ... I need a quick answer

    Thank you,

  • Well, I'm not with the VSL and I haven't got the ordc. cube yet - I
have however a lot of other orch. libraries and I think I know enough
about the VSL to give you the quick answer you need:

Sure you can use the orchestral cube by itself - it has all sorts of
long and short notes, articulations and dynamics. So the cube is
like a deluxe version of all the existing libraries on the market.
What the performances provide something new and exiting - runs, repetitions and legato performances and then some.

    Hope this is assuring.

    Kind regards
    Bjarne

  • Yes, you can use the orchestral cube or any of the individual sample sets (Strings, Brass and Woodwinds, Percussion) without the performance set. I've received the cube and have been checking the discs out and the samples are incredible - absolute realism combined with amazingly thorough programming.

But I'm very eager to get the performance set as well, for the legato on the demos sounds completely real and that is one of the things that has always been missing on previous libraries.

By the way the orchestral cube does have the alternation tool right now - a very powerful way of creating any pattern of repeated notes from 1 to twelve in any order, each time you press the key. The simplest is of course up and down bows, but you can get any other pattern as well.

  • or is it a MIDI tool, something one could use within Logic, or any sequencer?

it is a kind of *midi-engine* hooked on any sequencer
which can use the vienna symphonic library
i saw it already working with a windows-version of EXS
