I read in another thread, that we´ll have to wait for the 64 bit-Version, to be able to address more than 4 GB with VE3. On the other hand I remember, that it is possible to open many instances of VE2, in order to adress more ram. So can I load more instruments to my master machine with VE2 than with VE3?

Can I address more ram with VE2 than with VE3 on a MacPro?

yes...... All you do is make copies of the VE2 Application....and run Multiple VE2's via IAC drivers...I am running 3 standalone VE2, each loaded to 3 gig RAM They are all piping into Logic8 via IAC (for midi) and Soundflower (for Audio)........I run the standalones @256buffer and Logic @ 512 buffer.....I have a quad core MAC pro 2.66Ghz with 16 gig of RAM SvK

Thanks a lot! So in my case, having two macs with good soundcards, there should be no reason to switch to VE3, right?
-
right.......at this point there are 2 problems concerning VE3 on a Mac Pro. 1: you can only load circa 3.4 gig of samples (since MAC VE3 is still 32bit)....and 2: Everytime you switch songs/projects, VE3 will reload ALL samples. SvK

To be completely clear........My 16gig RAM Mac Pro is running Logic 8 (there are NO VE2 instances running as plug-ins directly in L8. They are running as stand-alones on the SAME MacPro)............This way, when I switch songs in Logic 8, there is no wait time for reloading samples, since those are streaming into L8 from the stand-alone VE2s via IAC and soundflower..........SvK
