  • Clicks with VE3 standalone at 256 samples buffer

I am getting occasional clicks,  when having loaded and  playing just a single instrument, perhaps every 30 secs on average. This is on the VE3 standalone, playing out via a an RME HDSP9652, on a separate slave. It doesn't seem to make a difference if I play one or 20 tracks.

First I though it may be a word clock issue (however everything should be clocked and terminated correctly), but when I set the buffer to 128 it gets even worse, and when set to 512 it's practically gone. However, 512 is too high, and I would expect a better performance from this machine. CPU usage in the VI player displays 20%. Is there anything I should be looking at?

  •  Noticed the same thing!

    MacBook Pro 2.5 (Latest).

    Logic Pro 8

    Digi 003 Rack.

  •  Hi Dom,

Indeed thats strange. I´m running a quite similar setup as you but my OS is Vista64 Bussines. I also have the RME card and I´m running it on 256 for about halve a year now with NO click or pop ever.

When does the VE display 20% usage? only on playing one instrument??? My machine is a Xeon 2.66 Dualcore and it shows about 2% with just one instrument playing.

  • Thanks Christian. It turned out to be a hardware problem. A faulty motherboard caused a memory leak. Everything is fine now.
