Why are you using Cubase's Stereo (on the whole mix?) - or just pieces?

Irish Strings
Hi Rob
Yes, this piece I only made for comparing the string libraries. So it is nothing special for itself.
By the way there is also the "Compare Rag" which you also can use for comparing the string libraries.
Why the Stereo Enhancer VST effect of Cubase 4?
I used the Stereo Enhancer below 100% - so I used it in fakt as "monoizer" for every single instrument or ensemble.
There is always the question how to use the balance L & R an how to make the signal more mono.
We some possibilities, you know.
First I prepared the little Irish piece with every Library.
Finally I opened Cubase again and made a pure audio mix with all the recorded tracks.
Mixer
I monoized...
- the solo strings to ~65%
- the chamberstrings to ~ 75%
- the orchestra strings to ~ 85%
- the appassionatas didn't got a stereo narrowing (exeption: the melody)
Remark:
You can also do this process by using the special balance modes of Cubase (Balance and Stereo Narrowing).
I made several listening tests with all these modes and possibilities.
All monoizing possibilities (Balance Modes) have lost some briliance while making the signal more mono -
but not the new Cubase 4 VST-Stereo-Enhancer-Tool.
All the best
