Will Vienna Ensembles be able to Host 3rd Party Audio Instruments?
Maybe I'm wrong, but I seem to remember reading in Sound On Sound that Vienna Ensemble was at some point going to have support for third party Audio Instruments. Is this true? At the moment, my hesitation to upgrade to Vienna Instruments/Ensemble is the fact that I use the VSL in concert with many other sample libraries, all being run on GigaStudio. If this sort of support isn't being offered, can anyone offer advice on how one might run Vienna Ensemble side by side with GigaStudio or Kontakt on external slave machines? And would it be possible to stream the outputs from those other software samplers to Vienna Ensemble, to take full advantage of the audio over LAN capabilities? Thanks in advance, Chris

Hi Chris,
we might open the Vienna Ensemble to other VST instruments in the future.
Of course it is possible to run many sample players at the same time on one slave computer, and you can also use the LAN capabilities of Vienna Ensemble 3.
BUT I would give it some serious testing!! After all, you have to rely on this system in live situations!
Make sure that your system is clean and that you are using the latest versions of all software.
Best,
Paul

Thanks in advance, ChrisOn Windows XP there is already a program that allows instruments and effects to stream over a network (FX-Teleport), so it is certainly possible. However I think that Paul is correct about testing, because in a cross-platform world, there are quite a few formats to test with.

Since I've given up hope that FX Teleport for Mac OS will ever happen, I think it would be a very good opportunity for VSL to fill the gap. You would probably make A LOT of money if you opened VE3 to third-party virtual instruments. Of course, those who want to use VE3 have to buy at least one VI library (I'm serious about this)...

I couldn't agree more. This is an area that there is a huge need. The first company to put out a good app to fill this need is going to sell a ton of them. You already have it and it's great. Open it up and they will come.@PierreFunck said:
