SE Plus -- Price for the "Plus" Part?
I'm trying really hard not to be missing something obvious here...

Hello Peter,
all articulations of the Special Edition PLUS are additional articulations for the Special Edition (therefore we called it "PLUS")....
The Standard Library of the PLUS collection contains additional articulations for the instruments contained in the Standard Library of the Special Edition.
The Extended Library of the PLUS collection contains additional articulations for the instruments contained in the Extended Library of the Special Edition.
The instruments included can be found here.
And here is a link to the more detailed Sample Content of the Special Edition PLUS collection.
Hope this helps!
Best,
Paul

Hello Peter,
you have licensed the FULL Library (Standard and Extended Library) of the Special Edition, just to stay clear on the wording [:)]
And yes, the price for the FULL Library (Standard and Extended Library) of the Special Edition PLUS collection is 1080 US$.
Best,
Paul

I'll bet you're probably thinking, "why am I seeing a reply with any more than the words 'thanks for clearing this up'?" This guy must be dumb as a stump...
Well, it was only back in January or so the name of the Full Library was the Special Edition Extended. At least that's what my invoice said... :) Seems as though there are 10^3 names for each product. It's really confusing. Not even the guys at Sweetwater understood the pricing or the nomenclature, and so I when I ordered the Special Edition Extended, I was led to believe that the "extended" part would only cost an additional $160 or so over the price of the Standard version. So imagine my sticker shock when I got the final bill.
So with that history in mind, I'm going to take this really slow so I don't get into that situation again... :)
We have established that I already own the FULL Library, f/k/a the Special Edition Extended. That cost me (list) $1040. Now all I want are the additional articulations per the "plus" version. Or, to put it anotherway, I want only the new articulations that represent the ONLY difference between the Special Edition FULL version and the Special Edition Plus FULL version. Repetitions, trills, con sords and sul ponts. Stuff like that. And the price for JUST these new articulations (which will transform my FULL Library into the FULL (plus) Library) is... $1080 (list). Is that correct?
Please, Paul, I beg of you, I'm on my knees with hands clasped in front of the VSL splash page on my monitor, imploring you to have mercy on my soul that you will do me the favor of a reply that reads either "yes" or "no" and nothing more...
:-)

I must admit I am also confused!!
I have the the FULL Library (Standard and Extended Library) of the Special Edition, although my registration on this website does not recognise that I have the extended version.
I too would like to know what the upgrade price is to the FULL plus library as I might wait for the subscription downloads.

I agree the pricing-packaging-naming is ridiculously confusing. I would have already purchased if it was more clearly and plainly put together. What happened to the discount calculator???? I plan to upgrade my SP Standard+Extended but can't find the discount calculator because I also own the original Orchestral Cube....???? help?

Hi all,
sorry for the delay.
Peter: Yes [:)]
We are doing our best to keep the wording clear - with 1.000.000 Samples and quite a few collections this can be confusing.
I don´t know how else to put it:
The Special Edition is 1 product, that is divided into 2 sections: The Standard Library and the Extended Library. These sections contain different instruments.
Here is the Sample Content of the Special Edition.
The Special Edition PLUS is another product, that is divided into 2 sections: The Standard Library and the Extended Library. These sections contain different instruments - each with ADDITIONAL (no double!) articulations for the instruments that are in the respective Library of the Special Edition.
Here is the Sample Content of the Special Edition PLUS.
There are no discounts available on the Special Edition PLUS, it is the same price for everybody.
The Discount Calculator is integrated on each product page. You always see "your price" when you are logged in.
Hope that helps. Our support team is of course also happy to help you with any questions you might have regarding our products: support@vsl.co.at
Best,
Paul

Hi Paul,
Thank you for your reply! (Next time I'm going to wear rollerblading kneepads if I know there's going to be a long wait) LOL!!
I'd like to tell you a story and then make a suggestion meant with nothing but the most positive intentions.
One of the things that put me off buying into VSL in the first place was the bewildering if not confusing structure (for lack of a better word) of product naming and pricing. As I mentioned in my previous post, there was a great deal of confusion when I ordered my SE Extended package from Sweetwater. Initially, the salesman was under the same impression I was, which I'll explain...
There were two product listings for SE on their website. One was for SE proper, the other for SE Extended. I'm going to use round numbers here and say that SE cost $400 and SE-Extended cost $550.
By all appearances they seemed to be exactly the same product with the exception, of course, that "Extended" meant the addition of instruments such as basset horn, electric guitars, Appasionata Strings, and other not-exactly-crucial-to-have instruments.
Let's look at the basset horn. Not exactly a popular form of the clarinet LOL! Electric guitar. Not the kind of thing that I'd expect to have included in an orchestral library, but what the hey. Appasionata Strings. It was only after playing them did I realize how good they were. But I hadn't heard a demo for them previously. I didn't have time. I needed to get this library fast for a big project. So my initial impression was that the extended instruments were kind of a "filler" set. Again, initial impression, please don't anyone take that the wrong way.
I didn't think that these additional instruments would warrant a cost over and above the basic set of SE. And here's thing thing: neither did the salesman. So best we could figure, subtract $400 from $550 (again, round numbers) and we concluded that these extra instruments would cost $150 over the basic SE collection. I'd always wanted to hear what a basset horn sounded like so I though, "hey, for $150 I'll get an education". In other words, I was expecting to pay $550 for SE Extended.
So imagine the sticker shock when I got the bill for $1000 (round number).
Now, to the suggestion... I can't help but think that there is a more straight-forward way to describe products such as SE. There is:- •Special Edition
- •Special Edition Plus
- •Special Edition Bundle
Each one of these has three subdivisions, "Standard", "Extended", and "Full"
I'm not going to go so far as to suggest how they should restructured, but I think it's kind of clear that it's... well, it's kind of a mess LOL!
