  • Windows XP 64

Hello every body, I change my configuration recently I bought 8 GB of memory and An RME Card and windows XP 64 and sequencer Cubase 4 , is it now in montage at the shop but i wonder.... If it doesn't work ....[:S] For me it should work as WXP 64 should be enough smooth for both 32 and 64 applications, but I really dont know ???? Windows Vista Pro 64 or Ultimate is a better choice ???? HELP...

  •  Thank you sooooooo much for your reply !!!

So it doesn't matter if Cubase 4 runs on 32 bits ? XP 64 is able to drive it ??? Your answer confort me very much !!!!

  •  Hello Tanuj ,

How do have You configurated RME in Cubase 4 , because right now I couldn't record my midi tracks in Audio....

  •  Hi everyone!

I work now with cubase 4 and RME 9632 under winxp 32, now I have limitations of ram, I use orchestral cube and other lybraries from EWSO. With XP64 I can find the same limitations of Ram?  Cubase 4 is 32 bits aplication and can´t manage 8 gbytes of ram.  What ´s the solution?   Who tested cubase 4  64bits?

    bye!

  • Those of you who are using Cubase in 32 bit are actually getting worse results in terms of CPU power compared to running it in its native 32 bit operating system. I don't know if the bitbridge is just endemic to Sonar 64 (the only DAW I know of that actually runs in 64 bit mode) but using 32 bit emulations in a 64 bit environment is not going to get you anywhere better than running in xp32. I can only run RaptureLE, Vienna instruments, and Vienna Ensemble as well as PLAY in 64 bit mode in Sonar64. Everything else is 32 bit.

  • You may be getting slightly worse results or slightly better results interms of CPU usage, there are contrary opinions in this reguard, but under XP64\Vista64 you are getting better RAM usage as each x86 instance unde x64 gets a full 4GB chunk. This is much better than the 1.7GB users commonly find under XP32\Vista32. This may or may not be important to you. Many sampler users have found RAM usage to be the most important benefit of a x64 OS. ymmv. Cheers
