  • Extra PCIe slots

    Hi

I have a Mac Pro and all my PCIe slots are filled - 1 TC Powercore Card, 2 UAD (Nevana Pack) cards and the graphics card. I am currently running a Apogee Ensemble on the firewire port but want to move to the rossetta and PCIe symphony card. So is there anyway to add additional PCIe cards to a system through some type of break out box or unit that say can convert one PCIe slot into two PCIe slots?

    Thanks.

  • No. You have to get another motherboard I'm afraid.

  • There's also Magma, but expansion chassis are very expensive and best avoided if you can. For PCs it's probably better to replace the motherboard as PB says.

  • Amazing to see that such a product really exists... thought I knew some stuff about PCs, haha.

Hi, it is because I have a Mac Pro and it only has 4 PCIe slots, which I have filled with a graphics card, 2 UAD and a TC Powercore. I was wanting to add a Apogee symphony X card but have no more free slots. I was wondering if I could get a expansion for 2 cards and move the UAD cards out and put the symphony X card in. But the expansion packs all take 4-8 cards and are very expensive for what they do!!!
