Okay, let's get to the bottom of this. Several posts have described how to get the best legato sound by overlapping the end of each note past the beginning of the next note. But when Paul gives his Vienna clinics, he assures us this is not necessary because Vienna is hard-wired to treat any notes that are less than 50ms apart as legato. I have to admit, that I can't hear the difference between overlapped and non-overlapped as long as they're not more than 50 ms apart. So who's right? Or does it vary from instrument to instrument? Inquiring minds want to know...
