  • VI And Cubase

I have a problem when I am bouncing a final mix with VI in cubase. It seems like some of the sounds are missing and the notes ends at wrong places. Have anyone else experienced the same problem? I dont have any problem when playing in the sequencer or bouncing other stuff, so this problem is just when bouncing VI tracks. I have the latest software from both VI and Cubase.

My system is a  Macbook Pro, 2,2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 Gb RAM(667mhz), Running Osz 10.4.11 and Cubase 4

Note that im not using the server application in this setup.

I am kind of freeked out cause i got a filmproject thats suposed to be delivered to in one week..

    Cheers

  • Hi, I posted a PC-related Topic yesterday having nearly the same problems with VE.

Have you tried a realtime mixdown as workaround just to get your job finished till the problem is solved?

  • Hi Angel,

Yes, i have tried to do a realtime mixdown and it seems like the problem is still there. How does it work for you?

Do you think it could be the fact that i only hav 2GB RAM thats messing up everything? (I doubt that since i have same problem on smaller projects.)

  • Hi Jorgen, (sorry, I don't find the dash in the "o"  :)  )

you mentioned, that it works well, when you play back your arrangement in realtime?

I discovered, that the missing-stream-part-playing works well even in mixdown when it plays correctly in the sequencer play-mode.

But sometimes I have those gaps even in normal sequencer-mode. Not reproducable. Sometimes I have to re-open the arrangement to make it play correctly again. Sometimes it doesn't help. It can even occur that I reboot my machine and the problem is immediately there. Then after working for another 10 minutes the computer seems to get its brain sorted and everything works fine suddenly.

To mention again: If the sequencer plays everything correct, I have a good chance that I can do a correct realtime-mixdown. But NEVER a non-realtime-mixdown or an instrument-freeze.

Do you have the problem even when you only load a few instruments? Or only when you use all of your ram at once?

EDIT: Oh sorry, I overread that your problem occurs in smaller projects too. Mhmm... any of the Namm-returning guys?? :)

  • There is a Cubase update available. It might be worth installing (having cloned your system first) to see if this fixes the problem.

  • Yes. Cubase crashes now when I try to freeze. Now I am not too frustrated that VE produces Gaps in the freezed track because I am not able to hear it ;)
