  • Problems with C4, VE and instrument freeze/songrender... gaps

    Hi,
I am getting problems when trying to freeze Vienna Ensemble.
I own Opus1 of which I am using Woods, Strings and Percs and recently purchased Brass SE Std.
The Opus-Instruments run via K2-Instances and one Vienna Ensemble runs the Brass-Section.
Completely loaded I have around 200-300Megs free.
Now when I try to play the arrangement I sometimes have gaps in the VE-Instance. So to say it plays the preloaded Attacks but the streaming part of the samples isn't played. But sometimes it works as it should.
When I try to freeze the VE-Instance via Cubase VSTi-Rack the streamed parts of the voices are not included in the resulting freeze-file. That happens every time!
Rendering the whole song (in non-realtime-export) produces the same problem. The K2-Sounds are recorded correctly. The VE-Sounds are chopped.
I tried to include one instance of the vienna instrument in the rack, loaded a SoloHorn-Matrix and the instrument-freeze worked well!
I didn't try to exchange the whole VE-Setup with single VI-Instances yet.

Any idea how to avoid such problem? I thought I would be able to freeze the VE-Instrument!

    Thanks, Angel

  • Angel:

So far, I have never successfully frozen a VI track involving a matrix consisting of several articulations or gotten an error free offline recording. All such attempts at freezing a track or making an offline recording have been marred - - as you describe - -  with gaps or incorrect samples being played. If I want to freeze a track, I bounce it in real time.  Perhaps this will change when I get a new MacPro....

  • Thanks Steve for the answer...

I admit I hoped that everyone would say: "Hey, sure it works with freezing. Just get your crappy windows-installation working!"

That's very sad. I am in a state of creating a lot of demos for my website (everything is really old there) and hoped to optimize my workflow because I need tons of time to produce my ideas. Time I don't have. And money I don't have for setting up a super-duper-16TB-DAW ;-)

Are there any guys out there with a working cubase-vi-pc-freezing-setup?

I wonder if the problem is VE or Cubase. On the cubase-website there seems to be a big problem with the freeze-function in cubase.

I begin to hate that sequencer. When Logic stopped developement for PC I changed to cubase and was happy for a while. But the endless story of not working Preview-Button, the issues with freezing. The REAL buggyVersion 4.1.2. That's all crap.

I change to Fruity Loops and do beatboxing from now on.
