  • VE serious issue when playing in sync

    Hi,

Using four PCs in sync here (N3/SX3/SX3/N3 for video). VE is installed on PC3 (SX3). When PC3's playing in sync (midi sync) with another PC, and VE is used as a VSTi, cursor doesn't run regularly, stopping here and there and VE sounds are stopped at the same time.

Switching from SX3 to VE causes VE sounds scratches and drops. Opening any window or dragging events in SX3 does the same thing.

    Anyone experienced that ?

    Thanx,

    Alain

  • welcome alain,

such behaviour is often noticed when a midi loop occurs (a MIDI out is somehow connected back to a MIDI in) - check especially your SX midi ins and disable all not explicitely needed (often they are set to *all available* which can easily cause such a loop)

you will notice also unusual CPU usage when this happens

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  •  Hi Christian,

Setup stays unchanged since a long time here and midi in is ok I think. Midi in is supplied by Fatar USB keyboard. Midi sync is input to RME HDSP midi In. CPU usage seems to briefly flash to 10 or 12% only and SX VST performance is about 35 or 40%...

I wonder about some display interaction, all that stuff is really strange. I never got that with VSL instruments before.

  • As I said, drops in sync and scratches and drops when dragging or opening SX3 windows make I really can't work with VE here. I'm back to VI. When VE is still activated, playing VI and moving any SX3 window still causes scratches. Deactivating VE makes VI works properly.

So I'll have to go back to VI for all projects I'm on (3 hours long feature TV film) and reopen all VE presets as VI now... Bouring...

do i understand it right that only PC3 is showing this issue? if yes could you tell us the grafic and audio card you have on this PC (maybe opposed to the others then) ... it seems you're somehow short in time currently, but for a closer investigation you should submit a detailed description of your setup to support@vsl.co.at

  •  Thanx Christian for your quick answer...

PCs are quite similar. Somehow, there are some differences. VSL's only featuring on PC3. I'll compare both more similar ones, PC2 and 3, working with Cubase SX 3 and VST instruments.

    Grafic cards :

    - PC2 : Nvidia GeForce 5500

    - PC3 : Nvidia GeForce 6600

    Audio cards :

    - PC2 & PC 3 : RME HDSP 9652

    Both  with AMD 3500+, 3,50 (PC2) & 3,25Go(PC3) RAM
