    hello. I use my external FW800 drive to store my VSL samples on. Should I move them to my internal drives on my Powermac G5 dual? thankyou

    are you experiencing problems regarding data throughput or CPU usage? then yes - just make sure it is a seperate drive (not only a seperate volume) and the respective volume is formatted HFS+ _not-journaled_ (they call HFS+ now mac-formatted or similar)

     

    firewire haddisks can collide with firewire audio devices and firewire as such adds some CPU load ... note: this is meant as recommendation for optimizing, not as neccessity if everything runs smooth as it is ...
