Has anyone bought all SE Plus packages? What do you think?
I completed my Vienna SE Standard and Extended libs tonight with the last of the SE Plus download packages. In a word, they are great. I never figured that I would use the repetitions but I actually began a piece tonight that uses a lot of them and they sound great. I only wish there was some control over the speed of them since have 3 preloaded tempi does create some creative challenges. Otherwise, I love 'em. Quite like the powerful FP trombones too. Great job fellas! Anyone else using these?

I've got the Pro Edition and the expanded Special Instruments. I'm considering getting the Strings Plus... but I'm looking specifically for con sordino played legato. Can you tell me if those samples are included? (I've got them in the pro edition, but they're not looped.)
Also -- the marketing info indicates that none of the additional material in Plus is from the chamber strings...can you confirm?
Thanks a million!
Regarding repetitions: I've had a helluva time making them work in the Pro edition. Are you sure you're using them correctly? At first, I just held a long note and let them repeat...found out later that this was the wrong way, and that they can be used for a range of tempi that starts at their "rated" tempo and goes to almost double. (Of course, they may be implemented differently for VI -- this is how they work... or are supposed to work ...in Pro.) There's a sticky note around on one of these forums, or perhaps an instructional video...
Cheers,
Nick

The Strings PLus do have con sordino patches. If you look at the sample list in the Strings Plus page they are in fact there. As for Chamber Strings, yeah, nothing there but that's okay since they did include Solo Strings which is what I use more. I know there are single short staccato patches for each of the PLUS instruments so I might try using those for more controlled repetitions. they do sound really good. I wonder if you can buy SE String Plus without having Vienna SE Standard though? I would check with Christian about that as it would be a waste of money if you bought the package, downloaded it, only to find out it does not work. Oh, the only other thing that surprised me is the fact that buying all three of the PLUS packages cost me as much as Vienna SE Standard and almost as much as both Standard and Extended libs together. I mean, I don't want to complain too much because I love them but all said and told, Vienna SE and SE PLUS ran me close to $2000. Better start getting some paying composing jobs again huh? ;)

Thanks, David. I do have the Special Edition standard and extended libraries, so I think I can get Plus. And while I saw con sordino in the patch list, it wasn't specific about whether the interval performances (legato) were included.
Yes, the staccato articulations are great. Sometimes I layer them and humanize the tracks so that they don't sound as machine-like. I was reading that there is now Vienna software that does this for pizzicato... but I'm not ready to buy much more at this point -- I've dropped about $6000 over the past several years. It's an expensive hobby ;-)

The performance legatos for muted strings are NOT present- just legato repetitions. FYI
