  • Vienna Instruments 64-bit installer

I'm beta testing GigaStudio 4. I tried downloading Vienna Instruments version 1.14 but it is not working for me in 64-bit GS4. I also installed Vienna Ensemble 2.0.2781, which shows up as a VST plug-in, but I want VI to work not VE. I was told that VI is 64-bit. Is version 1.14 supposed to be a 64-bit plug-in? Thanks, -jl

  • synthetic, i might be wrong ... but isn't GS4 a sampler (unfortunately we don't have a copy)?

if this is the case why would you want to run a sampler within a sampler?

the VI is 32bit, the VE offers a 64 and a 32 bit version to run (on a 64 bit OS)

as a sidenote: the 64bit VE also only accepts 64bit plugins (at least currently)

    confused, christian

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • The reason to run within GS4 is that it means that all plugs can be run as a standalone within the same host. It makes sense for people who only use a few VI instruments, but lots of other things.

BTW this VSTi hosting is a new feature for GS4.

sorry, but i don't get the meaning ... a pluging running as stand-alone within a host?

  • Sorry, I'll try to be clear.

GS4 is both sample player and VSTi host, so some people would like to run VI in it. As there is a 64bit version of GS4, it needs a 64bit version of VI in order to work.

  • Correct, it's both a sampler and a VSTi host. This allows someone to load GigaStudio samples and VI on different channels, stacked or keyswitched.

  • Martin told me that VI was 64-bit at the NAMM show, is this incorrect? Perhaps a 64-bit VI is on the way?

  • i'm almost sure his wording was that Vienna Ensemble (VE) is 64bit
