  • VI downloading questions

Friends, I have some questions regarding the new VI Downloads. I have the Horizon Concert Guitar. Are there any price discounts for customers that have purchased the old series? Could someone explain or point me to a thread, the procedure for downloading these instruments? Are they only available in a download? Thanks, Mike

  • Yes there are discounts for users of the old series. I have the Horizon version of the Concert Guitar library, and I got a decent discount on the VI. Log into your account and go to the product page. Your price will be displayed below the full price. The procedure for buying is very easy - just add to your basket and pay. You will then be given an activation code to be used with the LCC and your Vienna Key. You then download the CAB files and package.info files and use your Library Installer program to do the rest. The download products are available for download only.

I'd also just like to say that I always found the Horizon version of the Guitar lib a bit fiddly to use, but with the VI player it's just a dream! Well done to you guys (and gals)!

  • Thanks Martin, I will order it today !!!! Mike

  • as always discounts apply to the extended library if you have registered the respective horizon series sample library product

  • hello, is there a difference (and what is the difference) between the Horizon-lib and the VI? new content? (library seems to be much smaller ....) Thanks best

  • the overdrive horizon library has been listed with a data size of ~ 6GB and was 16bit, the VI overdrive is now 24bit and has a *raw audio samples* data size of ~9GB - what is listed in the product table above is the installer data size of 3.1 GB (the amount of data you need to download, this number is given for all download libraries) - the installed data size is again ~6GB and de-compression to the full 9GB happens invisible during playing the samples.

  • Thanks CM for the answer. I was more headed towards the Concert guitar - hmmmm, now I at least know about the Overdrive .... :) Thanks best

  • same goes for the concert guitar:

16bit sample data size: ~10 GB - 24bit raw sample data size: ~15 GB - installer data size: ~3.5 GB (the concert guitar does actually compress much better than many other libraries) - the sample base is the same for both broducts, the VI concert guitar has been re-sampled and re-mapped for ease of use (both libs - horizon and VI - are based on the same 32bit 96kHz original samples)
