  • Will MIR also be developed for the Mac?

I've just switched upgraded to the EXS pro edition from a giga first edition, and am curious of the plans for MIR on the Mac. Will the pc version come first? If so, how far behind is Mac development?

    Thanks,

    Colin

  • Platform decisions are not made yet. Probably we will see both Mac and PC versions be ready at the same time (more likely than not), but this is not written in stone. - A G5 will be a powerfull machine, we will have to see what we can achieve on a WINtel - but it is possible that there has to be some proprietary hardware with some nice little DSPs on it ... 8-]

Sorry for the vague answer, but that's all that can be said at the moment.

  • And what about a Dual Xeon 3Ghz ? [:D]

  • Just thought i'd dredge up this 5 & 1/2 year old thread...

I noticed that MIR is on the product page as being available soon. So what progress, at least conceptually, has been made for porting it for Mac users? With all the recent Intel-only products such as VSL ConvoVerb & Imperial, i can only assume that it will require nothing but the highest level, Intel-based SnowLeopard or later stats.... But please dont tell me you've decided not to make it AT ALL for Mac....

  • Hi Michael,

Thanks for your interest (and thanks for bumping this prehistoric thread ;-D ...)

Vienna MIR will be Windows-only in its first version. We plan for a Vienna MIR Pro (Premium / whatever it will be called) which should support OSX, too, but this will take some time to become reality.

OTOH, MIR is meant to be used stand-alone right now, so nothing would hinder you from doing your sequencing on a Mac like usually, sending  MIDI to Vienna MIR, and routing its final audio output back to your Mac. You will need a powerful machine for MIR anyway.

(BTW - I'll move this thread to the MIR-forum)

    Kind regards,
