  • Leopard problems

Hi all! I have recently done a clean install on my MacBook Pro of Leopard and have reinstalled my software. I use Logic 8. The thing is, I can't seem to load in any of my Vienna Libraries. I have used the Directory Manager and chose the correct files but whenever I open the VI interface there are no files available. I downloaded and installed all the updates I could find on the website (Orch Strings I Library Update OS X Intel, VI Software Installer OS X Intel, & Vienna Ensemble) and nothing seems to help. Should I have installed the VI Software Installer OS X Intel 1.14 before installing the Vienna interface from the dvd? Can anyone help? Cheers, eric

  • I 1.14 is the latest and would be always recommended - a shot into the blue you had opened a VI before using the directory manager ...

make sure your custom data folder is set correctly (DM), the respective location has read&write permissions (finder, apple-I), reboot and check with the stand-alone player.

  •  Christian,

Thank you so much. It looks like the mistake I made was failing to reboot my computer after using the DM. As of Wednesday it was working fine but I haven't had it opened since. Hopefully all will still be well. Thanks again.

  • The best thing to do when instruments don't appear in the VI Player is to delete everything in the directory manager (and only the DM - not the actual files on your drives.) Then just drag the files on your drives back into the DM. Usually does the trick.

  • The problem has not gone away. After a couple of days the sounds became unavailable in both Logic and the Standalone Player. Yesterday I spent about 10 minutes deleting the files in the DM, dragging them in again from the hard drive and then restarting my computer and it didn't work. What I eventually did was reinstall the update and that seemed to do the trick. Then today, the files were unaccessible again. I tried what I did yesterday and that didn't work. So today I uninstalled the player all together, reinstalled it and the update, deleted and reinstalled the files in the DM, restarted my mac many times throughout this process and finally got it all working again. The thing is, I did so many different things (including the Hokey Pokey but that was mainly for stress relief) I'm not sure what exactly it was that got it working again. Is anyone else having these problems? I have a MacBook Pro, 2.33 GHz. Just upgraded to Leopard. I am so so worried that the problem is the computer itself and nothing sounds more loathsome than dealing with Apple about it. I've dealt with their Pro Care before and do not look forward to having to do it again, especially at £1/minute or whatever it is. But then, nothing else is giving me any trouble, well, not really. Help, please. eric

  • just to have it mentioned related to *upgraded to leopard* ... hopefully you did a clean install (saving your old system to some external drive) and not installed it over any existing 10.4 ... this it what also apple more or less recommends ...
