  • Vienna Ensemble Panning

    Hi

I have a question about using the panning in the Vienna Ensemble. Say I want to set up Violins panned to the left as normal. Should I either

    a) Set the stereo width say 2 segments in the middle 2 segments in VE and then use the pan control set panned to the left OR
    b) Set the stereo width to the 2 segments on the left and the pan control in the middle OR
    c) Set the stereo width to the left and then also pan to the left

When I say segments I mean the individual triangles in the stereo width section in the VE channel strip

    Any advice would be great!!!

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Could someone please give me there views on this?

    Thanks

  • As far as I know the 'segments' reduce the stereo width and pan correctly (a reduction of the stereo width is preferable for more precise audible panning).

The pan control below just reduces the signal from one side depending on which way you pan so I wouldn't use this at all.

This is the way I understand it but I'm sure there are more views on the subject.
