I'm using Chamber Strings and SE on a project. I have viola 1 and viola 2 on separate tracks with the same matrices loaded in each instance (perf legato and articulation combo). After some time the 2nd viola track will stop working in that the notes cut off abruptly as if the sample has been truncated. Reloading the VI does not solve the problem. Re-instantiating the VI does not solve it either. Rebooting Logic does not work. Same problem affects other tracks.
Even tried reinstalling the libraries. I have a 7200 sata drive and about 1.3 gigs of free ram. Has anyone had this problem and better yet, does anyone know how to fix it?
Btw, Dual 2.0 G5 running Logic 8.01
Thanks!

Need help with VI problem...

Hi scpax,
maybe you are using too many voices. Did you also activate the Velocity Xfade?
With Vel Xfade on, each note automatically produces 4 voices all the time PLUS 4 voices for the Release Samples (so each note needs 8 out of 64 voices).
Best,
Paul

Thank you. I am using vel xfade. So each VI instance has a max of 64 voices? Obviously if I am playing a perf legato instrument there would be only eight voices at a time in that instance, right? So I'm confused as to how I could be using up my polyphony... I think you may be onto something, Paul, but I am still not sure how I could be creating this problem. Unless I have 64 voices TOTAL in Logic which seems to me absurd. Any further help is greatly appreciated:)

Hi scpax,
you shouldn´t run into troubles with legato, that´s true. 64 voices per instance is the limit.
It will be better to continue this conversation via support@vsl.co.at, please include all the info you can think of, maybe also the Logic Song.
Best,
Paul
