  • APII - best of the best

First off.  I paid for my APII library just like everyone else.  Secondly - this is perhaps the best release since 'Epic Horns' as far useability in so MANY different contexts.  And that is admitting a lot of great stuff release in between.  But this APII is nothing short of stellar!!!

I simply want to thank the VSL team for a job WELL DONE.

(my current Director is nothing short of amazed at the 'expression and tone' of it.)

  •  Me too...oh wait - I just spent it all on a VSL slave.

  • Rob, I'm curious. What are the differences between App II and I ? The product info says "muted," but I'd rather hear from someone who is using App II hands on. Thanks! Tom

    Hi Tom

    Appassionata Strings I = "Hollywoodstrings" (20 Violins, ...)

Melting Waltz / Bethlehem / Flight Close The Clouds (melody+cellos)

Appassionata Strings II = more or less* dito "App. Str. I" but recorded with Sordinos.

*I didn't compared articulation by articulation

By the way > I would like to expand the title: Appassionata Strings I + II = best of the best

...very very nice contrasts together with solo instruments (listen to the examples).

  • I got AP2 yesterday and started recording with them. I am a bit disappointed I have to say. The legato transitions from one note to another (slow legato) are too loud compared to the sustained sounds before and after, they stick out in a very unnatural way. I have noticed that with some other instruments as well, but especially AP2 are disappointing in this regard. Just my two cents.
