Exactly!
That's why we don't have world peace;
would be bad for the economics, bad for the war mongers and last but not least;
bad for the corrupt businessmen living of the backs of their more respectable kin people.
(yes, this is a sacrcastic reply)
welcome Hitoshi, you're right - getting extended library for the special edition collections _is_ an upgrade from the standard library (to full so to speak), second adding the SE standard plus subscription would be another expansion (or upgrade if you like this term more)
the discussion above was more about an *upgrade* from SE to SC (symphonic cube) or SP (super package) resp. individual *big* collections and a request for discounts if one decides to do so - at least that's how i understood - and VSL does not provide such an upgrade path (means discounts) currently

That's what I was thinking too kind of although I didn't quite get some of what you were saying. The VSL SC or the super package are expensive but well worth it. It would be nice if there was an upgrade from Special edition to symphonic Cube or something like that, but we can't have everything I guess.
But it does help if you have the special edition, get the extended one, THEN go for the extra 56 packages. I know the cube is still more but SE is quite a good set of instruments unless you are planning to go pro and need everything.
hitoshi, having kept a passion for fonts from an earlier profession i'd like to say the japanese fonts and characters as such have some strange beauty (which assumably a european might never fully understand) and i can imagine these fonts are rather expensive.
im considering licensing of fonts and sample libraries to be not too far apart and the passport system sounds like an interesting business model, though the website is somehow hard to read for me ;-)
though the syncrosoft licensing system would basically allow time limits of course we all understand this is nothing to be discussed within the community but i'm sure the respective people are reading the lines for possible future considerations.
a comment to the subscriptions: in your case only the standard plus would expand your sample base, just to mention

So, getting the DVD Special Edition Standard AND the Extended PLUS the Subscription Plus packages would give as much As i could with that route?
EDIT: ALso, whats with the big price difference between the Subscription Regular and the SE DVD? the DVD is in USD, and the subscription is in Euro. Thats a big price jump! >.< The price in USD for the complete Standard Subscription is $676.96 USD compared to the $445 USD for the DVD.
Hopefully it's an error, because I just got the DVD. The Subscription would have been nicer if the Prices were equal.
Hi Fire,
the subscription is a service for everybody who wants (or needs) to get the Standard Library step by step over a longer period of time (also interesting for countries, where high customs make it impossible to buy, we´re getting hoorays from all over the world).
So you did the right thing when you went for the boxed collection, in your case (because you could afford it).
The subsription is in Euros because we are located in Austria, Europe and the currencies all over the world are changing all the time (that´s the short version, you will find a more elaborated explanation in one of the many other threads about the Special Edition Standard Library Subscription [:)]).
Best,
Paul
the subscription is intended to be what it says: a subscription with monthly 1, 3, 5 packages - the [BUY ALL] is just an additional option and makes most sense for the plus, because this library is only available online.
the SE subscription standard is identical to the SE DVD standard library, as everybody can assume a SE subscription extended should follow, which would be identical to the SE DVD extended library (both together, std+ext = full SE)
the plus package adds nice to both - the DVD and the download product in the same way.
for everyone intending to purchase the SE std in one run i would recommend the DVD, simply because it is cheaper, except you need it *instantly* and have a very good internet connection ...
and yes: subscriptions and other download products are only available in EUR currently - we all just can hope the USD returns to a *normal level* next year, though the signs don't look too good IMO ...

edit: seems paul types much faster than me ;-)
Just trying to give some user input at the early stage of marketing decisions here, so just take it for what it is: my view of things. And I look at it from a viewpoint that may be shared by others - I'm not a pro nor am I rich enough to buy it all. So when I would ever decide to upgrade my Opus 1 collection or other things to VI SE and maybe further, I would want to do that in relatively small steps that won't exceed my initial payment into the VSL world. Would I just have purchased VI SE Standard that initial value is even less. So even as desirable an upgrade path to a super package would be for me, it is only interesting if I could get more detailed packages of a certain field (read: certain VI Std/Ext). Won't afford it all at once and possibly can't because I already have been cheap in the beginning. :) And of course it's nice to see you evaluating my investions into VSL not being in a dead end in a part of your complete product range. I understand you could not cover all possibilities, but perhaps offering alternate upgrade paths is something to consider.
All the best,
PolarBear
Hmm.. well my Internet connection is about average.
I suppose I'll just hold out and buy the boxed SE and then if I REALLY think I need some more I'll buy the PLUS one or better yet, I'll just get the extended because I don't really know all the different things that each will have. ( I know I can just go look but you know what I mean.)
Well I guess the price raise in subscriptions make sence if you can't get them or if you want them right away. ... funny thing is with my connection, it'd probably take the same ammount of time or more to DL everything. lol
Thanks for clearing some of this stuff up though. I appreciate it. :)
