I'm running DP 5.12 on a Mac Pro quad-core, OS 10.4.8, 9 GB of RAM.

When I try to instantiate VE 2.0 as a plug-in in DP, I get the following message:

"Unable to create Server Object. The Server application might be already running, or the requested network port is not available."

After it scans, the "reconnect" window appears, along with a message: "Vienna Ensemble Sevice is not available."  When I hit "reconnect", nothing happens.

It had been working fine - not sure what changed.  Is DP calling up the "VE Service" application as a plug-in, instead of the actual VE plug-in?  Anyway, I'm pretty stuck without an answer.

    Thanks for any help.

This post replaces the one quoted above, which had been entitled "Help - bad DP problem".  It wasn't a DP problem, since I discovered I had the same problem using Plogue Bidule as a host, and using the VST version of the VE plug-in.  Some combination of the following things fixed it

    1. Uninstalling and reinstalling VE, as per the instructions given awhile back on this thread:   http://community.vsl.co.at/forums/p/17216/123303.aspx#123303

I had not been running the latest VE 2.0 release, now I am.

    2. Repairing disk permissions with Apple's Disk Utility, then recreating the directory and checking files with DiskWarrior 4.

    3. Downloading and installing VI 1.14.

    4. Cursing a lot.

    5. Uninstalling and reinstalling VE a few more times, then looking for any preferences files for Vienna Ensemble not mentioned in the uninstall procedure mentioned above in 1.  (I found a vienna ensemble preference of some kind in my home folder's library preference folder, in addition to the ones in the root library's preferences folder).

I'm now running.  Could be any of the above.  Or all of the above.
