    I'm hoping that an update of  Vienna Ensemble that corrects the bug that causes it to open whenever Finale 2008 is launched is imminent.

    Now, at least under OS 10.4.11 this anomaly causes Finale 2008 to crash on launch frequently. However on one occasion, after waiting 9 minutes, Finale 2008 did, in fact, open and work properly. 

    This means I can't be sure of success when opening Finale 2008 files under OS 10.4.11. Later today, I will test this same situation under OS 10.5.1 - - but Finale did not seem to crash there under the same conditions.

    I always start the VE standalone first so that I do not have to go through license scanning process while Finale is trying to open. I have repaired permissions on the OS 10.4.11 drive and rebuilt its directory with DiskWarrior. I could of course uninstall VE on this drive - - but my purpose was to use VE as a host without having to open another application (Logic) to act as a host. Everything works with Finale 2005 and VE under OS 10.4.11 because Finale 2005 does not have any plugin capabilities and does not, therefore, inadvertently, cause VE to launch.

    Further tests:

    While launching Finale 2008 under OS 10.5.1 still causes VE to launch as if it were a possible plugin for Finale (which, of course, it is not), Finale opens at a normal speed - - no several minute delays and no crashes during launch.
