  • VE Problem with assigning controllers

Hi guys. Sorry about this again but here's another problem I found. I tried to assign one of my keyboard controllers (I have 4 assignable faders) to the Vel Xfade. But it didn't take. I can manually assign it in the mapping control on the VI window, but for some reason it won't accept the "learn" command if I move the fader. Minor point I grant, but it does make things easier.

  • When you've manually assigned, it does the virtual fader move up and down when you move the keyboard fader?

  • Yes it does. It all works if I manually assign it. So I can use the controller on the Keyboard .. but I can't assign the controller by right clicking on the virtual fader.

  • I had this similar problem too.  I found this out:

If you are using a DAW (I use SONAR), you have to actually select the instrument (just by hi-lighting it).  Then you have to hi-light that same instrument in VE.  Make sure the instrument in the DAW and VE match up MIDI Channels or you are going to have all kinds of frustrations.  Then right click on whatever function and move your fader.  That's what I did, works fine for me.  You're not hitting the "learn" button are you?  That's a different option...

    Frankz.

  • I've been using Cubase 4 for use with Standalone VE .. cos Logic 7 just doesn't work with it .. in OS X.5 For me anyways. I see what you're saying about having the same track highlighted and I should try that next .. didn't occur to me that maybe I was sending midi data to the wrong VI window. And no I'm not using the 'learn' button :D. Thanks.

  • My keyboard is old, and the only controllers it has are 2 volume inputs on the back. Is it possible to somehow assign those to the xfade function, or expression, from within the VI, VE, or Logic? I can't seem to make it work... Kerry

  • Problem solved. It was to do with the fact that I had not highlighted the instrument that I was trying to assign the controller to in the sequencer. So yeah, the midi channel was sending to the wrong instance. :P Silly me really. Still a lesson that needed to be learned.
