I installed (using the Combo update) OS 10.4.11 today and then the various related updates (ProApp, SoundTrack Pro, Compressor, QuickTime, iTunes) - - first on a clone of the startup drive where I experienced no difficulties, then on the main startup drive.
Starting from the main drive, I attempted to open a file which had both VE and Kompakt multi-instruments instantiated. VE showed up but did not load any samples. Logic 8 crashed and Kompakt never showed up at all. I then ran DiskWarrior and rebuilt the directory. When I restarted and attempted to open this file, I received Sycrosoft error messages stating that certain Vienna Instrument Libraries had not passed the license detection process and suggesting that I move the Vienna Key to a different USB port. I shut down the computer and moved the Vienna Key to a different USB port on my USB hub. I booted the computer and launched the file. The file opened successfully - - both the VE and Kompakt multi instruments loaded the correct samples and settings.
