  • VE MIDI stops working with more than 3 GB of samples on XP64 w/ 8 GB RAM

I'm running VE standalone on a WinXP 64 slave and I'm using MOLCP3 to route MIDI from my main DAW.  The MOL status monitor shows MIDI being sent and received at all times.

I spent a lot of time assembling a template but now it won't respond to MIDI on any port or any channel.  I've rebooted, stopped and re-started the engine, stopped and re-started MOL, etc.  I can load a fresh instance of VE and it works fine but when I load the saved template I get no indication of MIDI activity in VE.  I've tried using different ports, channels, omni, etc. but the VE acts like it's getting no MIDI.  Again, the MOL status window shows that everything is working fine.

How do I get the saved template to respond to MIDI again?  It took a LONG time to get it set up...

    Thanks,

  • Update - I went back and started re-building the template and I still have the same problem.  As I add instruments, certian MIDI ports stop working.  It's different ports at different times: sometimes Port 1 stops working, sometimes Port 3, sometimes none works, etc...  But the MOL status indicator always shows that all MIDI ports are working.

The MIDI quits working right at 3.0 GB of samples loaded.  Below that, all ports work.  Above 3.0 GB, sometimes the MIDI works and sometimes it doesn't.  Also, if I go above 3.0 GB and it quits working, I can unload samples until I get back below 3.0 GB and the MIDI starts working again... weird.

Also, the memory use reported in the Task Manager is clearly wrong - sometimes it's a few GB, sometimes it's a few hundred MB for the same template.

    Thanks again,
