  • Mac OS X Leopard and Wired Memory Limits?

I'm hoping someone from VSL or someone with experience with VI and OS X Leopard can address this. (Ha...no pun intended!) I currently run my VSL setup on a Macbook Pro Mac OS X 10.4.10 (Tiger) 2GBs RAM. Yes a limited setup, but I've got a great working method with Logic where I'm actually able to create music with a nice sized orchestra without any problems. However, I sometimes end up using a lot of "WIRED" memory (like 1.6GB, and that's a lot for me since I only have 2GBs). I read in the ArsTechnica article by John Siracusa

that Mac OS X Leopard has imposed a new "WIRED" memory limit, where there was none in Mac OS X Tiger. He says, "And for good measure, there are even a few new limits on previously unlimited resources like resident and wired memory sizes." This concerns me as I'm afraid it will mess up my working method if the limit is too low.

Does anyone know anything about this?

    Thanks, Brian
