  • WXP x64 and SATA II

I'm trying the 120 days microsoft xp64 free trial.

Everything (MOTU interface and Vienna Ensemble) is OK but how can I get xp64 to recogniza the SATA II hard disk where the Vienna samples mainly are?

With XP 32 bit I used the CD I got with the MOBO but XP 64 can't read that CD.

  • sergino, i don't understand in detail the relation between not recognizing sATA II disks and not reading a CD ...

maybe your XP64 needs a special driver for the sATA controller, if the motherboard or at least the chipset is from intel try the respective inf-update from their website. also probably on the (install-?) CD there is no driver for XP64 ... visit the website of the manufacturer for updates and latest drivers.

in certain cases you need to create a driver-disk first and press F6 (add additional SCSI controller) during the XP64 setup (alternatively some motherboards can also read from an attached USB stick)

  • I have find the new SATA controller driver.

    So everything is working fine

(Except for the adsl MODEM: have I to buy a router?)

  • hehe - i just wanted to point you to this location http://www.siliconimage.com/support/supportsearchresults.aspx?pid=32&cid=3&ctid=2&osid=8

adsl modem .... try to find the *network connection assistant* and see how far you get .... hopefully it is using ethernet and not USB ... in austria ADSL is using PPTP, but i think in italy it is using PPPoE (connection method) - try to avoid setup CDs from your provider, those are actually for *normal* operating systems not the best ...
