    Hi guys. I am planning to purchase the Solo Strings pack and am trying to understand how Vienna Instruments generally work. For example, Apple Jam Packs include both samples/Real instruments and MIDI/Software instruments. Is it the same with Vienna Instruments? Are those just ready-made fixed samples or can I use the sounds as MIDI/Software instruments, playing any tune I want on my MIDI keyboard? Thanks.

    The VI is a software instrument that uses samples stored in a proprietary format.  There are no "loops" in the sense of preconstructed riffs/motifs so you have to play everything via MIDI.

    cheers, Tim. that was really helpful to know. can I just ask... in terms of the best solo strings, would the Solo Strings be the most suitable Vienna pack among the affordable ones?
