  • snap crackle and pop - unwanted

I am working with the M-Audio people, but maybe someone else can help.

Using VI special edition with Sonar 7 on Vista. When I use a VI, even at a low volume, the midi sound snaps, pops and buzzes. I have done everything the company has asked thusfar:

    1. optimimized the PC

    2. installed latest drivers

    3. triad ALL levels of latency

    4. made sure my ASIO driver was chosen in the Audio options.

    5. prayed to St. Distorted the divine, Polish saint from AD 1845 who wrote the recipie for ice

    5 kicked the dog

Nothing has worked and I have been banished to my old XP machine, which works fine.  HELP please

  • It could be a polyphony issue.

Where are the VSL data files located? System drive (C) or on thier own drive?

I think you are praying to the wrong Saint. It should be St. B. Gates :-)

  • files on their own drive - I put them where the VI people suggested.

  • Ok then the only other thing I can think of is that you are running out of CPU resources.

What are your computer specs? RAM,? CPU?

  • AMD Anthalon 64X2 Dual Core 4400+ 2.30 GHTZ

I have 2 GB of Ram installed but it is only showing 1791 on the system page.  I dfound out today that I can put in 4 GBs in this machine. - I will add.

Finally, the dealer told me that VI does not support Windows Vista.  If thatis the case, I need to go back to XP on this machine.  Maybe set up a dual boot.  I believe I can add more than two hard drives.  I will, however, upgrade the power.

    Any thoughts?

  • Hi

Have you tried to switch off the multiprocessor option?

Do you have a time counter window open? (smpte or other format shown in a small window) - this has caused me some

    trouble in the past.

( I don't use Vista, so the above may not be relevant)
