  • Velocity Cross Fades

    Hi

I was just wondering what people use to turn Vel X-Fade off and on? I was wanting to assign it to two low keys at the bottom of my keyboard but it doens't let you choose two keys only looks at key velocity? Is this correct? What do people use instead. I have a CME keyboard and so I have set the exp and the velocity x-Fade faders to my faders on my keyboard, but I am not sure what to set to turn X-Fade off and on?

    Any suggestions would be great!

AFAIK you have to use a continuous controller. I use one of the CME faders for each of the GUI controls.

    Hi

I have fader CS1 on my CME keyboard set to controller channel 3 and that set to control the X-Fade slider. But I was wondering how people turned the X-Fade on and off above it?

    Any suggestions would be great!

  • With a fader. [:P]

  • Hi

Sorry, but just want to check. There are two X-Fades in the list. You have turn X-Fade on/Off and control the amount of X-Fade. I have the control amount set to a fader. But to swicth the x-Fade on and off I wanted to use two low keys on my keyboard, but you can't do that. So I was wondering what people used as the on/off switch?

  • I think that there may be a language barrier here, or maybe I'm just not being clear. I keep telling you that I use a fader and you keep asking what I use. Up for on, down for off. Couldn't be more simple.

  • Simsy,

I use a button on my Roland A90 set to send a message out over CC 63 (I believe that's the number). So, when I press the button it turns it on or off. If I'm recording at the time, then this button push gets recorded. If I'm not recording, I just insert the even manually into the sequencer. I think what DG is doing is just using a slider as an on/off situation -- not as a continuous type slider. In other words, he's using only two values out of the whole range.

  • Pardon my ignorance but why would you want to turn it off?

For example staccato notes do not benefit, as you could end up with the release being louder than the note, and also with solo instruments it avoids phasing.

  • Thanks DG!

Ah yes, now I understand. Its because its a global setting for the loaded VI and not each patch. Got it!
