Some Issues with VE
First off, my hat is off to the VL crew. This app is great. It looks great, it's easy to use. I love the pan features - it's the best thing to happen for orch sample use as far as a sub mixer goes. Really great app. Thanks. I have VE working in my PC's fine, but I've run into two issues, both in stand alone. The first is that in stand alone, I don't get any sound out put through the HW. This is in two machines so far (the only two I've had a chance to set up sessions in and run) It outputs fine when I use it inside of V-Stack on both. The second issue is that I can't get midi in on my one machine that uses MOL only in stand alone. Again, once it's in V-stack, it sees the ports and works fine. In stand alone it isn't getting any midi. This might be a bug on my side, I have to dig around a little and see if that is the case. Anyone else running into these issues at al?

Hey Paul, thanks for the reply. I have 3 P4 3.0 and 1 Intel 2 Duo, all with 3 gigs of ram running Xp Two of my PC's have RME Digi96 cards. One has Frontier Designs Wavecenter and one has an EMU 1212. I run all in ASIO at 256 buffer, 44.1 and digital AES output with the latest drivers supplied by RME, Frontier and EMU. So far the two with the RME and the one with the EMU will not output sound from VE in stand alone. I haven't tried the one with the Wavecenter card yet. One of my Mac's run fine in stand alone, I haven't had a chance to try the other yet.

Sounds like a very good setup!
We didn´t experience similar troubles with the standalone Vienna Ensemble.... not even in betatesting.
I´m sure you tried that after a reboot, right? Hard to guess what might be causing this? What confuses me is that this happens on more than one machine in your setup.... any special tweaks or tricks applied to these machines?
Best,
Paul

just a shot into the blue ... most ASIO drivers can only be connected to one source/application ... is there another app accessing the audio card?
also have you checked sample rate and bit depth are set accordingly .. and does the *eye* of the VI show midi and audio as well?

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds. -
Hi Paul, thanks for the reply.

Yes on all. OK, I got stand alone to work on the one with EMU card. But, on this machine I use MOL only and VE doesn't see MOL unless it's inside a host that does. So, that's a different problem, but I won't be able to use it stand alone on this machine because of the lack of midi. The other two machines with the RME card won't output. I suspect that VE isn't seeing all the output options. It's hard to tell what it sees because it only give you HW as a description. My hosts show the name of the driver/HW output, so you can see for instance that it's using ADAT instead of SDIF or Analog outs. Since my cards have multi outs to choose from, I think that may be were the problem lies. For future updates of VE, you might want to make it possible to see the actual driver/HW output discription in the output choices. I'l try the one with the Wavecenter later today.
