  • Latency as a plugin for C4.1

    Hi there,

Got all issues sorted out with 4 slaves but one remaining issue with the Main Daw - running C 4.1.

No matter what I seem to do I cannot get the latency better than 512 (have MOTU 2408 mk3 card set to 128).  Tried setting latency in VE to 'def' and to 128.  This makes no difference as the lower left hand corner of VE always reads 512.  I can live with this if needs be but would really like to at least get VE down to 256 (preferred 128)

Thanks for any help from you Cubase users (using as a plugin).

VSL - really liking the this software.  Congrats again!!!

  • Any Cubase owners have a suggestion on gettig this latency down to at least 256?

    Many thanks for any help.

  • Hi Rob,

try clicking on "Stop Engine", then "Start Engine" in Vienna Ensemble and the latency will be shown correctly. This needs a refresh after every latence change.

  •  Hi Paul,

Yea this is what I did already to get the readout of latency (after setting my 'default' and card latency as described).  But let me try again today.

  • Hi Paul,

Here's some more information that may help you.

On this same main DAW (running C4.1) - when I opened and instance of stand alone VE (C4.1 is not running) - the latency properly shows what ever the MOTU 2408 card is set at (either 128 or 256 - BTW I have decided to run this PC at 256).

As soon as I then run VE as a plugin with in C4.1 I only get 512 (with the card set to 256) ????

In stand alone I can check 'preferences' fine (and have set to 44K/256) - BUT as a 'plugin' VE only give me the following dialog box when i hit preferences

"In a Service mode, no audio/MIDI settings are available"

Hopefullly there are some hints there for you.

    Any suggestions?

  • Hi Rob,

I will check that, thanks for your input.

PC, right? Win XP, right? Or is your Main DAW a Mac with the beta version? (The worst part for us is to remember who is using which equipment.... [:$])

  •  Yea -

    PC

    XP home (32 bit)

  •  OK,  I said I can 'work around' with the 512 latency but it is fast wearing on me to have to move everything to the right after record.   Paul - any progress with this issue on VE (with C4.1)?  Almost ready to go back to just the VI by itself within C4.1.

Thanks for any help you can be

(remember on that PC the latency matches the MOTU card OUTSIDE of C 4.1 (standalone).

  • Rob,

feel free to use the Vienna Instruments for the moment, the Vienna Ensemble will be improved step by step.

I will check whether this behaviour is Cubase 4.1 related asap.

Anybody else experiencing similar problems? Thanks for any input!

    Best,

  • Thanks Paul - I'll go back to VI on the Cubase PC.  Thanks for any updates on VE (it really is a nice idea and I continue to use it on my four slaves just fine.)

  •  No Problem Paul - if anyone can sort this out it is VSL!!!

Just delivered my first cue with the VE on the slaves - really love it very mucho grande.  Went back to VI on the Main Daw - totally workable.

(Also one other thing the 'plugin' version gave me were some pops and clicks.   When I went back to VI - they went away.)

    Thanks again Paul.
